Owner Bio
After retiring from the professional tennis circuit in 1999, Pine Tar (of the wealthy Tar Family Hotel empire) devoted his free time to solving local murder mysteries while guiding the fortunes of his favorite fake baseball team. He purchased the FOBL team, the Portland Fighting Prawns, early in the 2001 season after following the leagues inaugural year struggles and seeing this was a place he could make a difference in the world.
Tar, on the day he bought the Portland franchise: "I figured hey, I have more money than I know what to do with, why not invest in something that is not real." Tar stores his portion of his family's vast wealth in a giant money bin in downtown Duckburg, Oregon. "It's right on the top of a hill so I get plenty of advance notice when those damn Beagle Boys try to break in, which is like every week pretty much."
Franchise Lineage:
2001 to Present: Portland Prawns -- Owner: Gary Sklenicka (aka "PineTar")
2001: San Jose Cyclones -- Owner: "RFUS"
