| Breaking News | | Wednesday, August 14th, 2030: Barnhardt Spins Shutout Pat Barnhardt of the Cape May Flounders spun his magic on the Fond du Lac Marines today. He blanked them 5-0 on 2 hits, registering 14 strikeouts and 2 walks.
"The bottom line was I just kept the ball down," Barnhardt said. "My breaking stuff was down. Everything was down."
Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, the Cape May skipper said, "We got solid pitching, good defense and we took great team at-bats in a lot of different situations. This was just a solid performance by everyone."
This season Barnhardt has a 10-10 mark in 23 starts with a 3.54 ERA. He has given up 140 hits in 147.1 innings, struck out 184 and issued 70 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .248 batting average against him. | | Thursday, August 1st, 2030: July's Pitcher of the Month Goes to Jaramillo Joshua Jaramillo of Cape May had an excellent July with a 4-1 record and was selected the Pitcher of the Month in the JJ League.
He finished the month with a 1.72 ERA, while piling up 34 strikeouts in 47 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .153 batting average.
This year Jaramillo has compiled a 11-4 record with a 2.81 ERA in 20 starts. | | Wednesday, July 31st, 2030: Hot Hurler Chills Out on Rapids "That's one thing that has never changed in this game -- pitching can control hitting," the Flounders manager told reporters after today's game.
The Rapids ran into a buzzsaw as Joshua Jaramillo cut them down to size 7-0 with a 3-hit shutout.
His skipper added, "He knows exactly what he's doing. He's not going to throw you a good pitch until you make him throw one."
In the complete game whitewash the Cape May hurler doled out no walks and registered 5 strikeouts.
In the postgame press conference his catcher said, "Joshua goes out there and just goes about his business. I don't think he gets too concerned about what's going on. You can call any pitch and you know where he's going to be."
Jaramillo also got some praise from the Roanoke manager.
"He really kept us in check today. Everything looked to be moving. Seemed like the pitch was right down the middle and it went over down and away... we took some pathetic swings."
On his stats sheet this season Jaramillo shows a 11-4 record, 20 starts, 150.1 innings, 127 strikeouts and a 2.81 ERA. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record on the road | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 0-0, .000 PCT |
