It was a big day with the bat for Artie Lott of the Ashland Victorians at Cockmasters Ballpark as he bashed out hit after hit after hit to defeat Berkeley 8-4.
To the press after the ballgame he modestly said, "Guys, it's just one game in a long season. I hit it hard and found some holes today. 5 hits in 5 tries. But my hits are not the big thing in the game. The victory is the important thing. That's the story."
At the end of the game Lott had collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats and a small mention in the record book. He was happy. He had a big day with the bat. And the Victorians had won.
The beat writers were happy, too. They had their big story -- they could write about his big day with the bat.
A. Lott singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off J. Cooper in the 9th.

Tracy Stevens, catcher for the Potomac Pop Rocks, ran his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20 games with 2 hits in his club's 8-4 victory today over the Ashland Victorians at Ballpark of Potomac.
T. Stevens flied out in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 6th, flied out in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
In 2031 Stevens is hitting .286 with 128 hits, 5 home runs, 51 RBIs, .328 OBP and has scored 53 runs.

Ashland's Yong-taek Park used his full arsenal today to shoot down Vertigo 8-0. All day long, he exhibited fine command of all his pitches, giving up no walks and striking out 10. Park allowed the Vertigo 3 hits in the victory.
Checking out his stats for the season, Park has registered 15 wins and 5 losses in 22 starts, 4.07 ERA and struck out 98 batters in 154.2 innings.
