| Breaking News | | Saturday, August 24th, 2030: Hemingway 5-5 for Waxahachie It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Steven Hemingway. It was very special day, one that many players never experience. But he did. Hemingway went on a tear and cracked hit after hit off Shreveport pitching.
When the dust settled on the diamond at Field of the Supercolliders, he had a career 5-5 day and something he will long remember. And the Waxahachie Supercolliders had a 7-2 victory over the Hurricanes.
"Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but it won't get me a hit tomorrow," he laughed in the SION postgame interview.
S. Hemingway doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This season Hemingway has banged out 114 hits in 413 at-bats for a .276 average with 6 home runs. He is getting on base at a .339 pace and his totals also include 54 RBIs and 49 runs scored. | | Thursday, August 8th, 2030: Hit Parade, Howard Gets Cycle "How sweet it is when the sweet part of the bat makes contact with the baseball. It's music to my ears." That's how David Howard, the Shreveport left fielder, described what happened in today's 9-6 victory over the Miami Vice -- hitting for the cycle.
In baseball, a player hits for the cycle when he hits a single, a double, a triple and a home run in the same game, though not necessarily in that order. Collecting the hits in that order is known as a natural cycle.
"I heard that sound every time I hit the ball -- it really was a special game for me."
It was a game good enough for him to make a little history. He bombed Miami pitching for 4 hits in 5 at-bats, and his name will now go into the record book.
D. Howard tripled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off J. Hernández in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th.
This year Howard has hit at a .269 pace and produced 38 RBIs, 5 home runs and scored 31 runs. | | Wednesday, July 24th, 2030: Kwan Sizzles! Smokes Knights for 5 Hits! Wen-huan Kwan of the Hurricanes was unstoppable in today's 7-6 victory over the London Knights at Hurricanes Ballpark. He battered them for 5 hits in 5 at-bats.
"Boy, I was on the mark today," said the Shreveport second baseman after the game. "All I had to do was swing, and I connected. It's a great feeling to do this. And besides, 5-5 won't hurt your batting average like 0-5 will."
W. Kwan singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run single in the 4th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off C. Romero in the 9th.
Year-to-date in 92 games Kwan has compiled a .272 batting average with 97 hits and 6 home runs. He has also scored 43 times and knocked in 49 runs. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record on the road | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 0-0, .000 PCT |
