Breaking News Wednesday, July 10th, 2030: Ricci Punishes HL Pitchers This Week It was announced today that Stone Mountain right fielder Clifton Ricci was selected the Hype League Player of the Week Award for his superb play last week. During the week he compiled a .818 batting average (9-11) with 3 home runs, 6 RBI and scored 4 runs. In 2028 Ricci is batting .280 with 6 home runs and 21 RBIs. Monday, July 8th, 2030: Braaten Voted Best VL Pitcher in June The Honolulu Sharks owe John Braaten a lot for his performance this past month. One of the league's most dominant starters in June, Braaten tore up the opposition with a fine 5-1 mark on his way to the Vaughan League Pitcher of the Month award. "When you're pitching this well," analyzed Braaten, "it's a lot easier to come to the park. I don't judge my performance by the stats, I judge it -- the team judges it -- by the score of the game. I could say I'm tossing electric stuff right now and that would go over big. But if I toss that same stuff -- exact same pitch selection and location -- and they bang me around tomorrow, I was awful. That's the way baseball is." It was Braaten who did the banging in June as he tossed up 46 strikeouts in 46.2 innings, holding opponents to a .193 average and posting a 3.09 ERA.
