It was a good day all around. Cook County whipped Evansville 13-5 and Kevin Spivey displayed a hot bat, enjoying an outstanding 5-hit day at Busts Ballpark.
"Some days, lady luck is on your side," he modestly told SION reporters after the game. His manager told the beat writers otherwise, "His hitting wasn't luck today. It's his solid approach to hitting. Kevin is focused, patient and he hits to all fields. The more solid at-bats you put together, the more success you're going to have, and vice versa."
The 20-year-old shortstop for the Busts collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats to get his name in the record book.
K. Spivey hit an RBI single in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off A. Kagunda in the 8th.
In the 2030 season Spivey has hit .261 with 2 home runs, 16 RBIs and scored 14 runs.

Relying on pinpoint control and a good array of pitches, Máximo Vélez of the Hilo Stars held the Cook County Busts scoreless today. He scattered 4 hits over 9 innings and fanned 4 on his way to the 4-0 victory.
