| Breaking News | | Tuesday, September 9th, 2031: Tombstone's Endo Shines, Shuts out Floyd The Tombstone Gravediggers got a great effort from Sekien Endo as the 17-year-old hurler tossed a complete-game 2-0 shutout over the Floyd Barbers. He struck out 5 while allowing 6 hits and walking 1.
Endo has made 28 starts so far this year and put up a 10-11 won-lost record with a 4.02 ERA. In 195 innings he has allowed 216 hits, walked 53 and struck out 66. | | Tuesday, August 12th, 2031: Rentería Raps Tombstone for 5 Hits Getting 5 hits in a game doesn't happen every day. Fishers's Manny Rentería had a very special day against the Gravediggers when everything came together for him. He really swung the bat with authority, getting 5 hits in 5 at-bats. However, it was Tombstone that picked up the victory. They topped the Ice Caps 8-7 at Ice Caps Ballpark.
"I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Rentería said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats today. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em. I had a great day, but the loss kinda put a damper on the day."
Disappointed or not, he still gets his name written in the record books.
M. Rentería singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off D. Cox in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off S. Collins in the 9th.
So far this year Rentería has hit .296 with 9 home runs, 35 RBIs and 37 runs scored. | | Tuesday, August 12th, 2031: 5-5 Day for Knight If just anyone could go out and hit a baseball, big dollar contracts wouldn't exist. But they can't, so the good hitters get the big bucks. Shawn Knight showed how it's done as he went 5 for 5 against the Fishers Ice Caps and helped the Tombstone Gravediggers beat them 8-7.
The manager for the Ice Caps told the BNN sportswriters, "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it. That's the game of baseball. Don't make mistakes and you win a lot more ballgames."
If Knight keeps hitting like this, he could be headed for a big pay raise.
S. Knight hit a two-run single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off S. Carr in the 9th.
Currently Knight is batting .317 with 10 home runs and 63 RBIs. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 56-74, .431 PCT | | Position in Division | 5th, 30.0 GB | | Record at home | 28-37, .431 PCT | | Record on the road | 28-37, .431 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 5-9, .357 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 20-22, .476 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 19-15, .559 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 37-59, .385 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 4-6, .400 PCT | | Record in April | 2-8, .200 PCT | | Record in May | 12-16, .429 PCT | | Record in June | 13-13, .500 PCT | | Record in July | 7-22, .241 PCT | | Record in August | 18-10, .643 PCT | | Record in September | 4-5, .444 PCT |
