Milo Whaley of the Gravediggers had a terrific 5-hit game today, really socking it to the Field A Red Team, but his team didn't win the game.
In the clubhouse after the 13-6 loss, he moaned to the press, "Hey, I don't want to sound ungrateful, but something is missing here. When you have a great game you should win the game, too."
And he definitely had an unforgettable day in the batter's box, ripping out 5 hits in 5 at-bats.
The manager for the Gravediggers sympathized with his shortstop and told SION reporters after the game, "Milo played a whale of a game, but sometimes individual brilliance is not enough to win...baseball is a team sport...it takes more than just one player to win a game."
M. Whaley hit an RBI single in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off S. Ashton in the 8th.
In the current season, Whaley has put up a .262 batting average with 107 hits, 7 home runs, 51 RBIs and scored 39 times. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | P Curt Talley | hyperextended bicep tendon | 2-3 weeks | Not on DL | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 8-5, .615 PCT | | Position in Division | 3rd, 2.0 GB | | Record at home | 6-2, .750 PCT | | Record on the road | 2-3, .400 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 0-2, .000 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 2-2, .500 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 3-1, .750 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 5-4, .556 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 6-4, .600 PCT | | Record in April | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in May | 3-0, 1.000 PCT |
