It was a banner day for Roger Wilson, who collected his 2000th hit in the Norwich 4-2 win over Richmond. Wilson went 2-4 in the game as both Mustardmen and Confederates fans cheered Wilson, when he reached base after his historic hit.
"It feels great to get #2000," Wilson said afterward, "especially since we won the game."
During his career Wilson has chalked up 2000 hits and a .244 average with 370 home runs and 1499 RBIs.

 | Wednesday, September 18th, 2030: 5-6 Day for Shewmaker!
Stephen Shewmaker told the press after his 5-hit day, "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate. He wants to hit the ball hard."
Well, that's just what Shewmaker of the Norwich Mustardmen did against the Queens Bees. He went to the plate 6 times and 5 times he delivered base hits, much to the chagrin of the Bees, who suffered a 10-9 defeat.
"Not much that I can say," offered the losing manager, "he just hammered the heck out of us."
S. Shewmaker hit a two-run home run off J. Ensign in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, grounded out in the 7th, singled in the 9th and hit a solo-shot off B. Cullison in the 10th.
This season Shewmaker has hit at a .224 clip with 61 RBIs, 18 home runs and 56 runs scored. He has played in 138 games.

Is Otis Manwaring going to tough it out and play through an injury? We'll get the chance to find out in the next 1-2 weeks as the outstanding Norwich starting pitcher attempts to shrug off back spasms he sustained throwing a pitch against the Queens Bees. Whether the management lets him play or handles him with kid gloves will depend mostly on how Manwaring feels on a day-to-day basis. But there's little doubt that the Norwich Mustardmen will be happy for the talented player to return at full strength as soon as possible.
Manwaring in 2030 has fashioned a 5-18 mark, 4.58 ERA and thrown 182.2 innings in 30 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .269 against him.
