| Breaking News | | Monday, August 12th, 2030: Big Day for Martin! Swats 5 Hits! If just anyone could go out and hit a baseball, big dollar contracts wouldn't exist. But they can't, so the good hitters get the big bucks. John Martin showed how it's done as he went 5 for 6 against the Seminole Honkies and helped the Richmond Confederates beat them 17-0.
The manager for the Honkies told the SION sportswriters, "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it. That's the game of baseball. Don't make mistakes and you win a lot more ballgames."
If Martin keeps hitting like this, he could be headed for a big pay raise.
J. Martin doubled in the 1st, walked in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, struck out in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off A. Villar in the 9th.
In the 2030 season Martin is hitting .300 with 3 home runs. | | Tuesday, August 6th, 2030: Savell 5-5 Against Windchill After the Seminole 7-5 loss to Minnesota and his 5-hit day center fielder William Savell told SION beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game is very good...three or four hits even better...5 or more are out of sight...and if it is in pro ball...it is really something special. It will get you in the record books, but you won't necessarily win the ballgame."
The 25-year-old player got into the record book today with a spectacular 5 for 5 game against the Minnesota Windchill.
The skipper of the Honkies spoke glowingly of Savell, telling SION writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. William did that to perfection today. I just wish some more our players swung the bat as good as him. We might have won the game."
W. Savell singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
For 2030 Savell is hitting .209 with 3 home runs. His stats include 14 RBIs and 17 runs scored. | | Thursday, August 1st, 2030: Gindin League Names Rookie of Month Guy Stewart gets his bat on the ball fast.
