After the end of today's game between Triangle and Durham, Lino Barrera skipped the clubhouse and headed straight for the doctor's office. After he was removed from the game as a precaution after throwing a pitch, the Vajdas had their worst fears confirmed when it turned out to be more serious. The closer will miss at least 1-2 weeks with back spasms.
Thus far this season Barrera has registered 36 relief appearances, worked 148.2 innings, struck out 104 and issued 41 walks. He has 7 saves with a 3.69 ERA and a 3-12 won-lost mark.

This week's standout performer in the Gindin League was third baseman Raul Costilla of the Triangle Vajdas.
He belted out a .667 average and was voted the Player of the Week. Over the last week Costilla collected 12 hits in 18 at-bats and 1 home run, drove in 1 runs and scored 2 times.
This season in 141 games Costilla is batting .284 with 25 home runs, 65 RBIs and has scored 70 times.

 | Wednesday, September 11th, 2030: Center Fielder Vernon Trotta Out
Dealing with injuries is part of the game, and now Vernon Trotta of the Vajdas knows this firsthand. He was injured against the Des Moines Delinquents while running the bases. Diagnosed as a torn back muscle, the Triangle center fielder is expected to miss 2-3 months. Trotta was a little upset, but understands it comes with the territory. "There is nothing I can do now. You try to be careful, but no matter how careful you are, injuries happen."
This year Trotta is batting .328 with 166 hits, 10 home runs, 57 RBIs, 47 walks, .385 OBP and has scored 88 runs.
