| Breaking News | | Sunday, August 25th, 2030: Fighting Prawns Grubb Silences Hollywood "That's one thing that has never changed in this game -- pitching can control hitting," the Fighting Prawns manager told reporters after today's game.
The Media Whores ran into a buzzsaw as John Grubb cut them down to size 4-0 with a 3-hit shutout.
His skipper added, "He knows exactly what he's doing. He's not going to throw you a good pitch until you make him throw one."
In the complete game whitewash the Portland hurler doled out no walks and registered 6 strikeouts.
In the postgame press conference his catcher said, "John goes out there and just goes about his business. I don't think he gets too concerned about what's going on. You can call any pitch and you know where he's going to be."
Grubb also got some praise from the Hollywood manager.
"He really kept us in check today. Everything looked to be moving. Seemed like the pitch was right down the middle and it went over down and away... we took some pathetic swings."
In 30 starts this season Grubb has recorded a 15-7 record and a 3.23 ERA. | | Tuesday, August 20th, 2030: Mcree Makes 400 Mark The Wisconsin Snowbirds had something to celebrate today even though they dropped a 6-3 decision to Hollywood. The reason -- the splendid slugger Guy Mcree hit his 400th career homer in today's contest at Bird Cage at Yount Park.
"I'm fortunate to be here," Mcree told the media after the game. "The Snowbirds have a classy organization and some great fans. Homer #400 was for them."
In his career Mcree has hit for a .264 average and totaled 1692 hits, 400 home runs and 1244 RBIs. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | P Michael Payne | torn tricep muscle | 9-10 months | On DL, eligible for return (60-day DL) | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 61-101, .377 PCT | | Position in Division | 6th, 43.0 GB | | Record at home | 32-49, .395 PCT | | Record on the road | 29-52, .358 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 5-2, .714 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 20-27, .426 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 13-32, .289 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 48-69, .410 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 8-19, .296 PCT | | Record in May | 9-19, .321 PCT | | Record in June | 15-13, .536 PCT | | Record in July | 7-18, .280 PCT | | Record in August | 9-18, .333 PCT | | Record in September | 13-14, .481 PCT |
