| Breaking News | | Monday, September 23rd, 2030: Homer #300 for Santa Cruz's Pegg At Cross-Mayer Park Neville Pegg smashed his 300th career home run in a game against Las Vegas today. The 31-year-old first baseman had a hand in the Santa Cruz Sea Lions 7-3 victory with 1 home run and 1 RBI. For the day he went 2 hits-5 at-bats.
At the press conference after the game, Pegg downplayed his achievement.
"Obviously, I've hit 300 home runs so I belong in that 300 Club. But when you talk about the other guys that have done it, I'm not as good as they were. Those guys were the greatest of all time. I've just been able to scrape together some good years and stayed healthy and gotten there."
Pegg's career batting average is .287. In 1506 games, he has gotten 1646 hits, 300 home runs, 997 RBIs and scored 1013 runs. | | Sunday, September 1st, 2030: Snake Eyes Roebuck Smacks 5 Hits! Somedays you can't win for losing. Just ask Brian Roebuck. He was the King of Swing in the game against the Lightning, but his Snake Eyes were beaten 15-14 anyway.
The Atlantic City catcher stepped into the batter's box 7 times against the Las Vegas and delivered 5 hits.
It was a sensational game for him. He excitedly told the press, "Unbelieveable feeling. Unbelieveable. It felt good. It felt great on the one hand, but a downer at the same time. What a day! 5 for 7! It does wonders for your batting average. But it's a shame we couldn't win it, too."
B. Roebuck hit an RBI double in the 1st, doubled in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th, doubled in the 7th, flied out in the 9th, hit a two-run single in the 9th, singled in the 12th and walked in the 14th.
This season Roebuck is hitting at a .297 pace with 10 home runs, 84 RBIs and has scored 67 times. | | Wednesday, August 21st, 2030: Chávez Will Miss 1-2 Weeks The Lightning received bad news this morning. César Chávez will miss 1-2 weeks due to a strained back muscle. In the Las Vegas-Utah game he sustained the injury while throwing a pitch. "I'm disappointed more than anything," he told reporters later in the day. "You can't help your team on the bench," Chávez sighed. "I'll do the rehab work and hope for a quick recovery."
This year Chávez has made 51 relief appearances with 4 saves. In 66 innings, he has fanned 47 hitters and recorded 6 wins and 7 losses with a 5.05 ERA. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | P Ricky Cadena | ruptured tricep tendon | 10 months | On DL, eligible for return (60-day DL) | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 84-78, .519 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 20.0 GB | | Record at home | 44-37, .543 PCT | | Record on the road | 40-41, .494 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 10-9, .526 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 33-24, .579 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 23-24, .489 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 61-54, .530 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 16-11, .593 PCT | | Record in May | 14-14, .500 PCT | | Record in June | 14-14, .500 PCT | | Record in July | 12-12, .500 PCT | | Record in August | 12-16, .429 PCT | | Record in September | 16-11, .593 PCT |
