It took the Utica team doctor a while to realize it, but reliever Freddie Almy won't simply play through a torn rotator cuff muscle after he got hurt throwing a pitch in today's Originals-Wombats game. At first, it looked like Almy might be back as early as tomorrow, but now the prognosis isn't quite so good; he's expected to miss at least 2-3 months. A spokesman for the club described the loss of Almy as a blow, but was confident that he'd be back soon.
In 2030 Almy has collected 7 saves in 79 relief appearances. He has also notched 85 strikeouts and 27 walks in 99 innings while registering a 3.55 ERA and a 3-5 won-lost record.

 | Wednesday, August 28th, 2030: Barstow Held Hitless by Fosdick!
In a dominant outing, Charles Fosdick of Utica totally silenced the bats of the Barstow Brouhaha. In the 4-0 victory he faced only 30 batters, surrendered no hits, had 4 strikeouts and 3 walks.
"I'll be very honest with you," his manager said. "I didn't know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning. I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had. Then I happened to notice that they didn't have any hits."
Commenting on his defeat, the losing manager told reporters in the clubhouse how he saw the game, "Well, it was pretty simple today, the Wombats had all the hits and all the runs. And Fosdick pitched a heck of ballgame."
In 27 starts this season, Fosdick has picked up 10 wins while suffering 17 losses. He has pitched 176 innings, allowed 220 hits, struck out 79 and posted a 5.01 ERA.
