Friday, August 9th, 2030: Hot Hitter! Torres Blisters Trenton!
5 hits in a game has always been a magic number in baseball. Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game and you get your moment of glory...your 5 minutes of fame...you get your name in the record book. Win or lose you get listed.

Augustus Torres got his name in the record book, but the Trenton Roadkill picked up the win, topping the Bantam Originals 10-7.

"Sure, I would have much preferred to win the game, but that's not how it came out. In baseball you win some, lose some and some get rained out," the Bantam second baseman expressed his feelings during the postgame press conference.

He certainly did his part today, pounding out hit after hit.

Later in the clubhouse Torres spoke further about his big game, "To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this was a special once-in-a-lifetime day. On the last hit, I was ready to swing at anything close, I was that excited. That's why my third base coach called time and told me, 'Calm down and wait for a good pitch.' That got me back on track and I nailed the first one in the strike zone."

On his record-setting day Torres delivered 5 hits in 5 at-bats, a day that will be good scrapbook material.

A. Torres singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off A. Weikel in the 9th.

This year Torres is hitting at a .311 pace with 15 home runs and 63 RBIs. He has played in 108 games and scored 63 times.
Tuesday, August 6th, 2030: Bantam's Avery Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits
It seemed that Bantam third baseman Gary Avery could do no wrong as the Originals kayoed the Sharks 14-7 today as he rapped out 5 hits in 6 at-bats. Honolulu pitchers couldn't get him out as Avery seemed to know which pitches they were throwing.

"I think the Originals were stealing signs." growled one unhappy Honolulu fan.

"I just felt good today. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play." exclaimed the jubilant Avery in the postgame press interview.

G. Avery doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off E. Mcintosh in the 9th.

This season Avery has hit at a .296 clip with 35 RBIs, 4 home runs and 40 runs scored. He has played in 80 games.
