Who needs batting practice? Freddy Steward of Warrensburg apparently doesn't as he battered Columbus with a 5-hit outburst in today's game to lead his club to a 12-2 win.
He told the press after the game, "And I didn't even take BP today. I think I have been taking too many swings before game and decided to take a day off. Wow, this was really something... a 5 for 5 day... will my name be in the record books now?"
F. Steward doubled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, walked in the 6th and doubled in the 8th.
So far in 2031 Steward is batting .333 with 1 home run, 8 RBIs and 7 runs scored. He has 16 hits in 48 at-bats and a .396 OBP. |
 | Sunday, September 1st, 2030: JJ League #1 Hurler is Castillo
Tough in the clutch -- that's a bullpen specialist. And one of the best in the league is Carlos Castillo of the Warrensburg AAs. Castillo was outstanding in August and was named the Pitcher of the Month in the JJ League.
Warrensburg's star reliever held the opposition to a .151 average and put up 13 saves and 20 strikeouts in 15 innings with a 1-0 mark and a 0.60 ERA.
This season Castillo has made 43 relief appearances, saving 31. His record is 3-2 with 60 strikeouts in 47.1 innings and a 1.71 ERA.

 | Monday, August 19th, 2030: Pop Rocks Blank Warrensburg, Livingston Winner
Everything clicked on the hill today for Jed Livingston of the Potomac Pop Rocks as he hurled his club to a 8-0 shutout win over the Warrensburg AAs, limiting them to 4 hits while recording 8 strikeouts and yielding 1 walk. He overpowered some batters with his fastball and buckled knees with his sharp breaking pitches.
"We had our shot at him a couple of different times," the AAs manager said, "but we weren't able to get to him."
This season Livingston has compiled a 12-6 mark with a 2.56 ERA in 28 starts.
