Just ask Benny Figueredo, the Montgomery first baseman, who swung a sweet bat all week to not only aid his team, but also pick up the Read League Player of the Week honors.
Figueredo piled up 16 hits in 30 at-bats, no home runs and 6 RBIs while hitting .533.
This season Figueredo has hit at a .354 clip with 61 RBIs, 9 home runs and 82 runs scored. |  | Monday, July 14th, 2031: Super Swinger -- Figueredo Slams 5 Hits History in the making. That's what the fans at Grays Ballpark got to see today, when Montgomery outplayed the Knights 12-4. Benny Figueredo of the Greys came to the plate 5 times and came away with a dynamite day as he exploded for 5 hits against Burlington.
In the postgame press conference the Burlington skipper quipped to reporters, "Hey, we tried to get him out. We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the kitchen sink."
B. Figueredo singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off B. Castillo in the 6th, walked in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off J. Unknown in the 9th.
So far in 2031, Figueredo is batting .350 with 6 home runs and 40 RBIs. |  | Monday, July 7th, 2031: Week's Best Player Honored by RL So far in his young career, Jorge Martínez has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the Read League in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts.
The 24-year-old Montgomery Greys first baseman hit at a torrid .464 clip as he collected 13 hits in 28 at-bats, 2 home runs, 8 RBIs and 7 runs scored.
