Sunday, August 4th, 2030: High-5s for Gutiérrez! Goes 5-5!
It was a big day with the bat for David Gutiérrez of the Greensboro Freshmen as he bashed out hit after hit after hit against Burlington.

To the press after the ballgame he modestly said, "Guys, it's just one game in a long season. I hit it hard and found some holes today...and Bingo! -- 5 hits in 5 tries! But my hits are not the big story in the game. We lost the game 12-9. That's the story. The Knights flat out beat us!"

At the end of the game Gutiérrez had collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats and a small mention in the record book. He was happy for his big day with the bat, but not too happy with the outcome of the game.

The beat writers were happy, too. They had their big story -- they could write about his big day with the bat.

D. Gutiérrez singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off J. Unknown in the 8th.

Thursday, August 1st, 2030: BL - AAA Choice for Batter of the Month is Ejea
Eugenio Ejea battered Behm League pitchers all July and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Behm League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," Ejea told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I may not take the field and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 28 games, Ejea hit .364 with 11 home runs, 24 RBIs and scored 26 runs.

This season-to-date Ejea has 32 home runs and a .338 batting average.

Wednesday, July 17th, 2030: Hit Parade! Hasler Pops 5 Hits!
Burlington shortstop Bryce Hasler put on quite a show at Knights Ballpark with a big 5-hit day in the 11-10 victory over the Sturgis Invaders.

In the postgame interview, he said with a smile, "Not a bad day at the plate...5-5...wish I could do this more often. It would do wonders for my batting average...and my salary, too."

B. Hasler hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, singled in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off J. Quinney in the 9th.

Looking at his season stats, Hasler has compiled a .317 batting average and a .386 on-base percentage, while hitting 9 home runs and driving in 39 runs.
