It was a big day with the bat for David Gutiérrez of the Greensboro Freshmen as he bashed out hit after hit after hit against Burlington.
To the press after the ballgame he modestly said, "Guys, it's just one game in a long season. I hit it hard and found some holes today...and Bingo! -- 5 hits in 5 tries! But my hits are not the big story in the game. We lost the game 12-9. That's the story. The Knights flat out beat us!"
At the end of the game Gutiérrez had collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats and a small mention in the record book. He was happy for his big day with the bat, but not too happy with the outcome of the game.

"It was almost like batting practice. I saw the ball very well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted." That's what Greensboro second baseman Pablo Acevedo said to SION reporters after his fantastic 5-5 day against the Batavia Tevatrons at Ballpark of Greensboro. "I got some good counts and used the whole field."
The Freshmen had a good day, too, and won the ballgame 14-6.
P. Acevedo singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off J. Shingen in the 9th.
This year Acevedo has hit at a .323 clip with 70 RBIs, 14 home runs and 51 runs scored.
