Kevin Elder pitched a strong game in blanking the Nashville Flyers 7-0, allowed no runs on 4 hits, totaled 5 strikeouts and gave up 1 walk.
The Herndon manager said he could tell right away it was going to be a good game for Elder. "Right from the start, you could see how economical he was," he said. "He threw a lot of strikes."
So far this season Elder has a 4-5 record with a 4.39 ERA.

 | Friday, July 12th, 2030: Maine Batters Green Bay Big Time!
Paul Maine exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Doubleday Park. The Trenton third baseman had a field day in the 11-4 triumph over the Green Bay EZ Riders, finishing up with a 5-6 day and a spot in the league record book.
"My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus just to see the ball and try to get a good pitch."
Well, Maine must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat.
P. Maine hit a solo-shot off R. Long in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
This year Maine is hitting .357 with 30 home runs.

 | Tuesday, July 9th, 2030: Villalobos Shuts Out Honolulu
"That was one of my best outings," said Eric Villalobos. "I was worried a lot in the bullpen. My ball wasn't quite right. Luckily, it can be two different worlds -- the bullpen and the game. Once I stepped on the field, it all fell into place."
It was an impressive start for the Superiors hurler. He blanked the Banana Rats 13-0 on a strong 4-hitter while ringing up 6 strikeouts and doling out 2 walks.
To date Villalobos is 9-3 in 15 starts with a 3.38 ERA and has 48 strikeouts in 98.2 innings.
