| Breaking News | | Saturday, August 31st, 2030: Feliciano on Rampage Against Grizzlies! Who needs batting practice? Joseph Feliciano of Wyandotte apparently doesn't as he battered Gateway with a 5-hit outburst in today's game to lead his club to a 17-7 win.
He told the press after the game, "And I didn't even take BP today. I think I have been taking too many swings before game and decided to take a day off. Wow, this was really something... a 5 for 6 day... will my name be in the record books now?"
J. Feliciano hit an RBI double in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off A. Ojeda in the 9th.
This year Feliciano is batting .243 with 100 hits, 1 home run, 39 RBIs, 30 walks, .298 OBP and has scored 46 runs. | | Friday, July 12th, 2030: Pino Tosses No-No Against Wombats The Utica Wombats didn't have an answer today for pitcher Leslie Pino and the Arizona Discotheques in the 15-0 loss. He didn't give up a hit and totaled 8 strikeouts and 2 walks in an outstanding outing at Stadium 54.
He told SION reporters after the no-hit game, "Everything was working today. I had excellent location and great movement on my pitches. Good things happen when all of it comes together like that."
His catcher said, "His fastball looked about the size of a watermelon seed and it hissed at you as it passed."
The Utica skipper joked, "No comment. I'm speechless after that performance. I'm going to be as silent as our bats were today...except to say I hope this leads to a big contract for Pino in another league."
Pino has gone 6-5 this season with an ERA of 2.72 and 128 strikeouts in 122.1 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .211 against him. | | Saturday, June 29th, 2030: Chacon Holds Wyandotte Scoreless Gateway starter Francisco Chacon really did a number on the Wahoos today, shutting them out 2-0 on 3 hits in a complete game victory. He issued no walks and had 8 strikeouts.
In his postgame comments, the Wyandotte manager said, "We didn't have good at-bats. I don't make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting... seeing as our team has a bunch of pretty good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Francisco... he did an outstanding job today."
This season Chacon has compiled a 4-5 mark, 4.11 ERA and made 11 starts. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 51-79, .392 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 31.0 GB | | Record at home | 28-37, .431 PCT | | Record on the road | 23-42, .354 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 4-6, .400 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 16-25, .390 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 8-16, .333 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 43-63, .406 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 2-8, .200 PCT | | Record in April | 6-8, .429 PCT | | Record in May | 10-19, .345 PCT | | Record in June | 10-16, .385 PCT | | Record in July | 11-17, .393 PCT | | Record in August | 13-16, .448 PCT | | Record in September | 1-3, .250 PCT |
