Ariel Martinez put on a hitting clinic today as the Banana Rats dumped the Fear 10-4 at Ballpark of Honolulu. The Honolulu first baseman sprayed hits all over the ballpark by lashing Wilmington pitching for 5 hits in 8 at-bats in the game.
He told SION reporters after the game, that he just hit it where they pitched it. "Too often I try to pull the ball too much. Today I just went with the pitch."
A. Martinez grounded out in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, grounded out in the 9th, singled in the 11th, singled in the 14th, walked in the 16th and hit a three-run home run off J. Zamora in the 17th.
In 2030 Martinez is batting .402 with 3 home runs and 26 RBIs.

"Ever since I picked up my first bat my coaches were always saying to keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing... just make contact and ya never know what'll happen," Honolulu's Alonso Guercio told reporters after the game. "That's all I did today. I made contact and it turned out well."
It definitely turn out well for Guercio today as he collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats against Wilmington. It turned out well for his team, too, as the Banana Rats knocked off the Fear 10-4 at Ballpark of Honolulu.
A. Guercio singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, walked in the 7th, singled in the 10th, walked in the 12th, struck out in the 14th and singled in the 17th.

Honolulu starter Harold Puente earned his Pina League Pitcher of the Month award.
He made that very clear as he mowed his way through league hitters in April.
During the month Puente chalked up a 3-0 record with a 2.23 ERA.
The Banana Rats star made 4 starts and surrendered 32 hits in 32.1 innings. He struck out 14 and walked 5.
