A veteran of baseball wars, Mike Hazas knows how to stay with a stroke that's working for him. The 35-year-old right fielder for the Moose Brewers batted .581 last week on his way to the Pina League Player of the Week award.
His noteworthy week also featured 18 hits in 31 at-bats, 6 home runs, 14 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
This year Hazas is hitting at a .357 pace with 26 home runs and 94 RBIs. He has played in 101 games and scored 79 times.

"Sometimes I was smart . . . and sometimes just a little lucky." That's how Bill Roache of the Monterey Sea Otters described his shutout victory over the Saint John Moose Brewers. Roache blanked them 1-0 on 4 hits while striking out 4 and walking 2.
Roache has made 16 starts this season, posting 7 wins and 7 losses. Opposing clubs are batting .355 against him and he has 26 strikeouts in 93 innings with a 7.06 ERA.

 | Saturday, August 3rd, 2030: Super Swinger! Brown Slams 5 Hits!
Chad Brown was on quite a roll today as he knocked the ball all over the park, collecting 5 hits and leading the Superiors to a 10-9 victory over the Saint John Moose Brewers.
After the first three hits, all eyes in the ballpark were drawn to him each time he stepped into the batter's box. Even a few of the opposing fans were pulling for him, knowing they were watching a little baseball-hitting history unfold.
In the clubhouse, crowded by reporters, the Duluth center fielder said, "I never realized that batting a little ball around could cause so much commotion." When asked what the secret of hitting so well is, he smiled and replied, "The key to hitting for a high average is to relax, concentrate and hit the ball where they ain't."
Nobody was at home today as Brown finished the day with 5 hits in 6 at-bats and a line in the record book.
C. Brown singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run single in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, flied out in the 9th, walked in the 11th and singled in the 13th.
Currently Brown is batting .328 with 8 home runs and 35 RBIs.
