Andy Holmes of the Huntington Hatfields really strutted his stuff on the mound today with a 5-0 victory. He was almost untouchable, bewildering the Plattsburgh Nobles with a 3-hit shutout in which he struck out 10 and gave up 1 walk.
This season Holmes has 9 wins and 7 losses and a 2.50 ERA.

The Mall Rats whipped the Hatfields 12-5 at Ballpark of Marlton and Tomas Ayala had a big hand in the win. The Mall Rats third baseman came to the plate 5 times and collected 5 hits. It was a good day for Ayala and a tough day for Huntington.
"I just go up there and whale away and hope it hits the barrel of the bat," he said. "There really isn't any plan."
Plan or not, Ayala delivered today -- 5-5 is outstanding in any league.
T. Ayala singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off M. Echegaray in the 8th.
This year Ayala is hitting .274 with 2 home runs.

 | Saturday, June 8th, 2030: Big Day for Fizer! Swats 5 Hits!
It was a hits blitz for John Fizer at Gravel Dogs Stadium. The Terre Haute Gravel Dogs right fielder tore into Huntington for 5 hits in 5 at-bats to pace Gravel Dogs to a 10-1 victory and wrote his name into the baseball record book.
The manager for the Hatfields bemoaned his pitching, saying, "We fell behind and weren't locating well. Once you get behind in the count, you have to make real good pitches, rather than good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today." He added, "Not to take anything away from Fizer, but bad location was the story of the ballgame. That's why we lost the game."
J. Fizer walked in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off J. Unknown in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
Thus far in 2030 Fizer is batting .335 with 1 home run, 21 RBIs and 26 runs scored.
