 | Monday, June 10th, 2030: Flyers Blanton Sizzles with Cycle "To hit for the cycle" is one of the rarest of feats in a baseball game. This occurs when a player hits a single, double, triple and homerun in the same game, getting every type of hit possible.
Lindsay Blanton grabbed a piece of baseball history today when he hit for the cycle. Blanton went 5 for 6 against Princeton, leading the Nashville Flyers to a 17-7 win.
"I felt comfortable at the plate in a way I haven't felt all season," Blanton said after the game. "It was like they were throwing beach balls at me. The ball seemed that big to me. And it just floated in."
L. Blanton hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit an RBI triple in the 4th, struck out in the 6th, singled in the 8th, hit a two-run double in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off J. Hurlburt in the 9th.
Blanton has collected 52 hits for the Flyers this year, 2 of them home runs. He has also netted 18 RBIs and scored 24 runs while batting .302. | |
