Stafford League News Article | | | Wednesday, April 24th, 2030: Martínez Goes 5-5 If the El Paso Beetles know how best to pitch the Summerville right fielder Iván Martínez they didn't tip their hand today. Instead Martínez showed he knew how best to hit them as he easily handled Beetles pitching, going 5 for 5 and helping the HellOnEarths to a 14-0 triumph at Ballpark of Summerville.
He told SION reporters in the postgame interview, "The way I was swinging today, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball."
The El Paso skipper quipped, "Well, the next time we may just do that...blindfold him...and then pitch him differently, just to be sure."
I. Martínez doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI triple in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off M. Flowers in the 7th.
This year Martínez is hitting .348 with 8 hits, 1 home run, 4 RBIs and has scored 5 runs. | |
