Smith Cracks 5 Hits
Sunday, August 17th, 2064
Elton Smith told the press after his 5-hit day, "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate. He wants to hit the ball hard."

Well, that's just what Smith of the Milwaukee Microbrewers did against the Cheshire Cats. He went to the plate 7 times and 5 times he delivered base hits, but his club still suffered a 17-12 defeat.

"Not much I can say," offered Smith in the postgame press conference. "I got a bunch of hits, but it would have been much better to get a win. Can I trade 5 hits for the win?"

Elton Smith doubled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 8th, walked in the 9th, singled in the 11th, singled in the 13th and singled in the 14th.

In 110 games Smith is hitting .269 this season with 122 hits, 17 home runs, 62 RBIs, 23 walks, .323 OBP and has scored 55 runs.
