Virginia first baseman Patrick Mazzella hasn't been feeling well lately and now has been diagnosed with the flu. He's expected to be out for 2 weeks.
This year Mazzella is batting .268 with 95 hits, 3 home runs, 32 RBIs, 60 walks, .377 OBP and has scored 61 runs. |

No single hit brought John Barrett Player of the Week honors -- the Las Vegas Lightning right fielder corralled the award with a consistent approach in every at-bat.
"Hitting is all about discipline," said Barrett. "When you lose focus, start to lunge at the ball and swing too agressively...swinging at a lot of bad pitches...that's when your average starts to drop and you wind up fighting for playing time. You're most successful when you concentrate on the ball and make 'em throw strikes."
Concentrate he did. Barrett stroked 10 hits in 21 at-bats while cranking out 5 home runs, 11 RBIs and 9 runs scored.
In his stats this season, Barrett has posted a batting average of .323 with 146 hits in 452 at-bats, 31 home runs and 89 RBIs. He has also scored 97 runs, walked 58 times and compiled a .402 OBP. |

Trenton Roadkill fans are celebrating Paul Maine's selection as Vaughan League Player of the Week.
Maine put up some serious numbers over the past seven days as he cracked 14 hits in 28 at-bats. The 39-year-old third baseman hit .500, drove in 8 runs, scored 10 times and hit 4 home runs.
In 2030 Maine has put up a .344 batting average with 165 hits, 38 home runs and 90 RBIs. |
