    Default 2062 Draft Discussion

As you can see, we are going with the OOTPOU tool again this year. While it has it's shortcomings, it does do a pretty nice job of letting folks set lists, and it does have a semblance of a draft clock.

That clock is not turned on yet, btw - I had a show of interest last week, so I'm seeing if I can get a new owner (or at least trial vulture) to draft for Ottawa. Looks like tramel picked already though. Lookin' for the next Shrimp!

Also, Tyshawn Smith is a 15 in LF. 15!

I've been communicating with nicon22, one of our FOFL owners who has expressed some interest in FOBL. He's going to be guiding Ottawa for now in a vulture role to get his feet wet. He's logged into the draft tool and made a pick at 1.2.

That still leaves the Tacos at 1.7 though, and andyhdz hasn't exported (in either league) or visited since the first week of November. I think I'm gonna put out the Drach Signal on that one.

So the clock is on, but I have no idea what the timer on the front page is indicating.

This system is still striking me as really weird. Looking at the selections: http://www.thefobl.com/cgi-bin/ootpo...age=draftPicks

I see Rope's pick due by Wednesday at 10:53AM. However, the draft box shows RIC on the clock at 1.10, and my draft class page shows (1.9) next to Erik Cooper.

This thing is just flippin odd.

Maybe... Rope/ARZ has a list with "Erik Cooper" on top and "Use List if time expires" checked? That would mean Erik Cooper won't be listed on the Selections page until the draft clock expires. Just a thought.

Maybe - I'll have to look a little more closely at what is going on with the data. I guess I could be misinterpreting what is going on with my displays.

I think you need to trade the pick to me since you are so busy with training

The clock is supposed to be on, yes. At some point Rope's pick auto-fired, and it wasn't the guy I originally thought it would be. The Confeds pick is supposed to fire by 2:57PM, but we'll see what happens.

My internet connection has been extremely unreliable since a truck drove into the roadside fiber cabinet a few weeks ago, so if my pick comes up and there are no orders in the utility, feel free to let OTTO take control.

ISP has told me the estimated fix date is Feb 21st

Wow. You could move quicker than that.

Bleh. I picked Cooper last night while I was at the basketball game with my son. Wonder why it didn't fire.

See, I thought you must have. WTF - sorry Rope. I'd change the pick if CJP hadn't subsequently taken him; the only other alternative I think would be to roll back the draft.

One thing I really don't like about the OOTPOU utils are their reliance on plain text files. I feel like there's an extra opportunity for things to screw up there vs a database.

I'm super happy to have gotten Cooper, but I think we should roll it back. No way should someone lose out on a pick they wanted - and made - because of a technical snafu. I'd be fine with - in fact, I would prefer - rolling things back, giving Cooper to frope and picking up from there. The guy I would end up taking would not be the guy Dan took at #14, so this wouldn't mess things up down the line.

It's ok. The guy I ended up getting was my second choice. And his nickname was Elephant which is probably more appropriate for my first pick.

If you're okay with it, that's fine by me. I just don't want someone to get hosed by a glitch.

Are you sure, Rope? Because I could roll it back (at least I *think* I can). And I agree - you did nothing wrong and are entitled to the pick if you want it.

(I am pretty sure the system *does* allow you to flat-out edit picks -- so I could edit the BRE pick with the ID of Junk's 2nd choice, then assign Cooper to ARZ -- as long as nobody in-between really wanted the guy the tool picked for ARZ).

Sorry, been out this evening. I'm in Houston right now with Spencer, our annual basketball trip / mall-a-palooza event, and I've only been looking at FOBL through my phone the last few days. I'm wondering if making the pick via my phone in a 4G environment and not through Wi-Fi somehow caused the system not to fire. The two picks were almost a tossup, I'd prefer Cooper because he's a couple of years older, but I'm fine with either. Since this pick held up an entire day's worth of drafting, I'm content with taking Hadley.

CJP and Cuervo, thanks for the offer, but keep it as/is.

Heh, I was so busy today I forgot to check in on the draft. I suppose I can take an 11 glove CF though.

Sorry, guys. I've turned on the auto draft for Richmond. Just don't have the interest to monitor the draft right now. Should probably let someone else step in on the Board, too.

I'm noticing the forum screen is listing Minnesota as the team who is up in the draft with 2.20, but in the war room, it's listing that the pick was traded to Normal. Possibly an issue?
