    Default My 2057 All-FOBL Team

    - Always subject to my biases, especially that I like high IP on my pitchers.
    - DH is not purely a DH position, but takes the best available hitter not already chosen

    C: Tom Caldwell, TRE (1-0-0-1)
    1B: Vince Tellez, DAV (2-2-1-5)

    SP: Ricardo Sims, BOS (1-0-0-1)
    SP: Milt Gahagan, AYR (1-0-0-1)
    SP: Josh Jordan, WIS (2-1-0-3)
    RP: Julian Rubio, LAS (2-2-5-9)

    2nd Team
    C: Corey Hutton, WIS (1-1-0-2)

    LF: Jayden Moore, TRE (0-1-1-2)
    CF: Finlay Kenneil, IND (0-3-2-5)

    SP: Gene McClendon, MBJ (9-4-1-14)
    RP: Vladimir O'Flanagan, LAS (0-1-0-1)

    3rd Team
    C: Marlon Weems, LAS (0-0-1-1)
    1B: Ian Knaus, KEN (0-0-2-2)
    2B: Tom Glenna, TRI (0-0-1-1)
    3B: Pepe Pinga, LAS (1-2-1-4)
    SS: Ron Boedecker, BRE (0-0-1-1)
    LF: Jamie Davis, KEN (0-0-1-1)

    RF: Erik Locascio, GRN (0-0-1-1)
    DH: Micah Kelly, NRW (5-1-1-7)
    SP: Ian Kerns, MIL (3-2-1-6)
    SP: Jamie Fleming, DUR (0-0-2-2)
    SP: Tom Gervasio, TRE (0-0-1-1)
    RP: Ismael Rodriguez, FRS (0-0-2-2)

    A couple brief notes...

    - Rodriguez is notable for two reasons. He's the first person in years (since the birth of LAS's superpen?) to make All-FOBL RP while being a traditional closer. Ridiculous season. And I wonder where he ranks in biggest gaps between All-FOBL seasons. He was 3rd team in 2041, and again now in 2057. Fun career.
    - McGavin is also notable, as one of very, very few qualifying shortstops to make All-FOBL at DH. It's only happened a time or two in FOBL history that there were two shortstops hitting well enough to both make first team.

    Marlon Weems!

(Can that be right? I guess he does walk a whole lot.)

Weems was slightly weaker offensively than the other people against whom he was competing for the 3rd team slot (though still very solid, 835 OPS is nothing to sneeze at). But he was by far the best defensive catcher among the offensively competent. Put him over the top.

Bubba was unfortunate enough to be a left fielder in the wrong year to be playing left field; he was the last one left out there, though he was a fair bit behind Gaywood for 3rd team. Cutler was in the 3rd-5th mix at catcher with Weems and Horan. He was the best hitter of the closely grouped bunch, but Weem's bigger defense lead led to him getting the (narrow) nod.
