Angry Fake Baseball Reference v.2024 is up!

Hit refresh if you see the old pages, and please report any non-winshare calculation bugs in this thread.

    What's done:
    - Added the new HOFers, these pages should be up to date now.
    - Added the 2023 all stars, these pages should be up to date now.
    - Added the 2023 MOY's, these pages should be up to date now.
    - Manually changed the owners names that have had multiple versions over the years (IE: The old 'Fearbobafett' to the new 'Mike G(Fearbobafett)'). I believe all recent owner name changes from the last 6 seasons have been covered now but if you see your owner stats split into multiple owner names please list that issue in this thread.
    - Manually updated the lone park name with quotes - "Robin Yount" something or other. The owner of this park could change this name within the game before sending in a export to avert this FBR generation delay in the future (check the FBR park name first).

    What's not:
    - The awards for the last 3 seasons are the OOTP-generated awards, so no top fireman or overall MVP's. Not sure if we have awards voting data for those season but if we do they will need to be added for next seasons Catobase. Again, feel free to mention that (or any other bugs) in this thread as I always check this before running the new Catobase processes.
    - Still missing several 'newer' team logo's (haven't installed new graphics software since my hardware/virus issues). These can be added at anytime so hopefully I can get to these soon. If anyone else wants to do this first please feel free, the size is 150 x 150, the format is GIF. You can send the file to me and I'll update the relevant pages.

    Details of the delay:
The master Catobase DB file (2001-2022 years) was on a HD that had 1000's of virus' on it, so I was a bit concerned that we might lose this data and have to start the Catobase master DB from an old backup. Fortunately that was not needed as a successful 3 day virus scan this week made the old 80 gig hard drive usable again (I probably should do more regular backups).

    BM2006 conversion notes:
As Cuervo and RonC have already mentioned in related threads, we don't actually need the OOTP5/6/6.5 league directory to run Catobase as there is a check-box to ignore that Catobase step. We do need the following files created with either OOTP BM2006, various new utilities, or manually:
    bat_career.csv
    bat_game.csv
    bat_stats.csv
    league.csv
    park.csv
    pitch_career.csv
    pitch_game.csv
    pitch_stats.csv
    player_batpitch.csv
    player_field.csv
    players.csv
    post_season.csv
    schedule.csv
    schedule_game.csv
    schedule_innings.csv
    team_depth.csv
    team_lineup.csv
    team_pitcher.csv
    team_wl.csv
    teams.csv
    tendencies.csv

And the following html files with OOTP 5/6/6.5 style formatting:
    league.html
    lnews.html
    ltrans.html

It is possible we can do without some of this data and apply our changes directly to the master Access DB, then use Catobase exclusively to output the html. However, I believe that the app will crash if some of this data does not exist. We could do some simple tests for this after we find out what files we are able to generate using BM2006, any new add on utilities, and/or any reasonable manual data input.

    Good jorb, Buddy!

Only thing I've seen so far....it appears as though the latest round of HoF inductees weren't included (C. Johnson, Victoria, States).

Buddy - for the lnews.html and ltrans.html, I *think* the txt versions of these will also do, but I'm not certain. I haven't made any headway on mapping the relevant csv's (some will be a pain), but we'll be able to have something. Even if a step or two is tedious.

Awards - I don't think we've had any since 2020. But, Ron poked me a little bit and I am coding the actual ballot in php starting with 2023 (which is almost done). Basically I put the EOY stats in a db table that is a mirror of the AS table (both data sets are generated from the same script). From there, I can just ping off a player ID and it will print out the appropriate line in the ballot. Should make things much, much, MUCH easier. I should have the 2023 ballot up tonight.

To piggyback on what Cuervo said....

We had no awards voting/results at all for 2021 and 2022. The BoG is currently working on a course of action to backdate these (as I'd like them for the new team pages as well), and even if we have to simply form a small committee to review the seasons and name them outright, we'll have some winners sooner rather than later.

Ahh, I took the list from theFOBL.com HOF pages, so unfortunately I'll have to add the newest HOFers to next years version.

Not sure what you mean, if you mean we can manually create these files then yes that is doable though a pretty big job. It's also possible we can edit similar BM 2006 files, though we'd probably have to combine major and separate minor league files together, then make sure the syntax matched the old html. There maybe a BM 2006 util that helps out, but so far I haven't seen that.

Some are very small and easy to manually recreate (or re-use). I'm hoping the biggest ones can either be skipped or output from BM 2006 (maybe rearrange columns manually) or that Commish Joe can update his utility package:-). I haven't studied these files much though so I'm not sure how difficult each will be to recreate.

Well, I guess either way we'll have to recreate the news/transactions pages. But it looked like Cato would take either an html version or a text version, which I believe the game generates. The latter would probably be a bit simpler, not having the tags.

As the csv's go, most I think will be fine. The schedules will be tricky, as one splits up innings to top and bottom, while the other does it as an entire inning. There will be a little programming involved in making one from the other. But then, there is going to be programming anyhow.

Three of the top 25 (and 14 of the top 100) doubles seasons occured in 2023, including Roger Wilson's 88 and Paul Difilippo's 85, both destroying the previous record of 74 (Vernon James).

just curious ronco, how can you see the top 10 (or 25) of all-time single season doubles marks?

    88 doubles though!?!?
