    Default 2021 Tank Fines

Ok, this is what I have:

    TeamRevenueFineable Revenue TKFine
    Green Bay $15,323,514$11,576,295.4 $6,946,137
    Honolulu$16,442,248$10,936,274.8 $2,187,255
    Durham$16,208,777$12,000,760.95 $600,038
    Richmond$29,755,003$13,634,132.80 $2,726,826
         $12,460,256
       /32$389,383

What I did was to isolate the non-SC and non-PF components of payroll ($tankrev[$i] = (.4 * $average * ($CP[$i] + $nBCP[$i]) + .2 * $min ); for you perl fans scoring at home - these numbers are in the source of the finances page, but are commented out). By these calculations each of the other 32 teams will receive $389,383 in fine distributions (the total fine amount of $12,460,256 was evenly divisible by 32).

This is w/o any sort of clemency deal for GRE, which I would say could still be a possibility.

I didn't realize we were considering giving GRE clemency...did they inherit a bunch of bad contracts?

He inherited a team that hadn't been able to participate in much off season activity, and suffered for it.

I don't think GRE wants clemency, though. He's in FLA until Thursday night and acan speak for himself when he returns, but when I broached the subject with him, his response was "I don't need no steenkeeng charity."

It wasn't bad contracts, it was the fact that they had no chance to sign anyone in FA - those that were signed (CMart, Arango, Portillo the only ones worth much of anything, unless if you count Bengston, who went 2-28 and really *had* to be signed as there were no other SP) were signed by my going into UFA late in the game and setting bids for them (contrast with DUR, who was very active in FA and managed to win only 8 more games).

Now, I'm only bringing up clemency - I'm not mandating it. A case could also be made that GRE had an opportunity to at least improve their situation some by trading, if only for $1 bin guys.

That's certainly worth noting. I probably wouldn't want it either really (pride thing).

I just don't like the idea of making the proposition of taking over a FOBL team that's in the crapper an even more unattractive option. I will stand by my opinion that there should be an ammendment in place to the tank fines that states all new owners get a full season window (owner for all 162 games) where the tank coefficient is static at 1.0

The only problem with that is that teams could make a conscious effort to ubertank that first year if they wanted to.

I think we should fully embrace new owners that would welcome that kind of challenge, actually...

Default Green Bay Response to Tank Fines

Short answer from newly promoted PR director, Iphelia Payne, states that the Green Bay front office does not want any stinkin' clemency.

Speaking as a new owner, I knew what I was inheriting and what the constitution stated when I joined and that the tank fine was a distinct probability. If I was worried more about the tank fine than where I want to be in 3-4 years, I would have made more aggressive moves to stay above the line. I feel in the long run, paying a tank fine was less of a long term risk than taking on a whole bunch of contract before I knew what I was doing (which still could be the case, eh?).

I feel the tank fine is part of the situation I agreed to inherit and there should be no clemency granted.
