    Default 2020 Awards Voting (finally...again)

Well, I've got the ballot up, though I'm not sure how smoothly it will work. Mali looks to have taken the old files down from his site, so the look is different from past years. More importantly, the script that processes the form is no longer there, so we are working by mailto: . Hopefully this will work ok, I haven't yet tried it out. I wanted to finally get this up though before trying to tackle a quick and dirty script to process and mail the info.

Also, if there are any glaring omissions let me know. I have a hard time believing David Ward "saved" the most runs for rookie a pitcher in the GL....

I'm not getting a response when I click to submit.

Bah. Yeah, this is going to have to be reworked before long. What it will do now is to pop up an e-mail in whatever your e-mail client is, but there is no "success" page as it stands. If Mali still has a copy of his .exe, I could probably upload that and use it on our server, or I can just find/make a script that will parse the query string and mail it. That won't be immediate though.

Hmm, apparently not. I don't see any e-mails yet, so it must be screwed for the time being.

Oops, sorry. I changed web hosts and hadn't put anything back up. Unfortunately, I think the new host uses a completely different service for mailing and I haven't even begun to look at what they use yet. I'm putting all the files back up now, but my guess is that the emailing part isn't going to work, regardless.

It occurred to me on the way in this morning that I really shouldn't be doing this via e-mail anyway, this should be player id based and should go into the db. The question is when to do it and how write-in votes should be handled. I think the best way for write ins would be to require an exact string match on name - that way I can pull the player id the same way I do for the fobl links. I really don't feel like having a separate write-in table.

Can you check (when you have time) and see if my vote was received?

I didn't get either of them, I think it is safe to say that the mailto isn't working correctly. I'll have to disable the submit button for now, until I get the db solution in place. Shouldn't be *that* tough, I'm thinking I can use much of the code from the AS ballot.

But my first set of votes was PERFECT!!! I'm not sure I can duplicate that perfection.

Not to mention - how does Roseberry (20-10) get the nod over Tieman (20-4)? Not that I'm complaining. I'm happy to have a Pagan on the ballot -- I just figured it was more likely to be Tieman than Roseberry.

This should at long last work, saving each ballot to the db.

Next, the 2021 ballot, and a method of actually tallying each.

Yes - the ballot was finished long ago, but the submittal method was not. I finally coded a method for it. I will be working on the 2021 ballot soon.
